BACHELOR OF FINE ART

College of Art is an institution established in 1942 for advanced training in Visual Art (Creative and Applied) leading to the Bachelor of Fine Art Degree. The College is under the Faculty of Music & Fine Art, University of Delhi, for academic matters and is wholly administered by the Govt. of NCT of Delhi. The objective of the teaching programs and training in the college is to achieve overall refinement of the student’s perception not confined to the skills of the profession alone but also to create the right kind of intellect as well as emotional cultivation to arrive at a level of composite creativity and thought.

The four year full time BFA Degree Course is divided into two parts:
a) Foundation, and
b) Specialization.

Foundation
One year duration, the Foundation is common to all the students. As name implies, the Foundation provides basic instructions to lay the base for the Specialization.

SpecialiZation
The Specializations offered are:
a) Applied Art
b) Painting
c) Sculpture
d) Print Making
e) Visual Communication
f) Art History

These Specializations are of three years duration and provide intensive and advanced training, both in Theory and Practical.

ACADEMIC TERMS
The Academic Year is divided into four Terms consisting of 37 weeks.

Ist TERM-B
July 16th to September 30th, 2009 - 11 weeks
1st to 15th October, 2009 is the Autumn Break as per the University Calendar.

2nd TERM
October 16th to December 23rd, 2009 - 10 weeks
24th December, 2009 to 7th January, 2010, is the Winter Break as per the University Calendar.

3rd TERM
January 8th to 28th February, 2010 - 7 weeks

4th TERM
March 1st to 30th April, 2010 - 9 weeks
(includes Annual Art exhibition, Annual Internal Assessment/Internal Promotion, Internal Theory Examinations, Declaration of Internal Results, BFA Final (Practical/Theory) Examinations, and Ist term-A.

WORKING HOURS
The working hours for students in the college are 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. from Monday to Friday with lunch break from 1.00 p.m. to 2.00 p.m.
No Classes will be held on Saturdays & Sundays.
The college will remain closed on all Public Holidays as notified by the University of Delhi and Govt. of NCT of Delhi.
